The judge will examine the horse on the rail at the walk/trot/LOPE, both directions. Halt and stand. The judge will be looking for pure rhythm in the gaits, acceptance of contact, suppleness, and willingness. Show lengthening at the trot and canter (if LOPE class) will be called for in the Suitability classes.
Unlike Dressage Seat Equitation, these Classes focus on the horse and not solely on the rider's position and ability to apply the aids. To be considered for the Monthly Dressage Championship, a horse/rider combo must compete in at least one dressage test at the respective level.
